New faces ( David )

Casey was waiting out the front of a high school. But not just any high school it was the high school of her  best friend, Red. The final bell rang and she heard her bestie after she felt her. In an instant Red had tackled her best friend into a hug , followed by a scream of " CAAAAYYYYYSEEEEEEEEEEEY" and a smile from Red that meant a hell of a lot.  She had gotten texts from her all last period after Casey texted saying she was out the front. Sadly Red hadn't been able to get out of class to go see her , and Casey knew she would be bonkers. Giving her friend a tight hug and a smile she looked her up and down. " Heard you were in a crash? You okay Hun?" She asked, to which Red only smiled and shrugged .

I'm fine, wrecked my car though.. The new one, oh and I'm not allowed to drive for thirty days or something to prevent PTSD. came her answer, then Red turned to the guy behind her. Cas this is David .. A friend of mine. she said introducing them. David's going to hopefully give you a lift to my house, him and his family are my neighbours. When asked where Red was going Casey found out she had to go into town and do some stuff so David would be giving her a lift. " That's very nice , thanks David. I'm Casey, as Red said. Pleasure to meet you." She said, smiling at the man before her. Dayum he was gorgeous .

David winced ever so slightly when Thana screamed from right beside him. His heightened hearing made it sound like a train honking their horn right beside a normal human's ear. he said nothing however, and silently followed her to the new girl, Casey apparently. If David had not known the signs of a vampire, he would assume this girl was one. She had the beauty of one, and even appeared pale enough to be one. Yet he could hear her heart, and she had normal colored eyes.

When David learned he was hopefully going to be giving Casey a lift, David wasn't too sure about it. being alone with a human in his car was not something he would most likely enjoy. Yet he could hardly say no without giving a reason, so he said in his soft velvet voice "A pleasure Casey. I'm David, as Thana said. I would be honored to give you a ride to Thana's home"

Casey smiled and nodded gratefully to David, "Thank you David, believe me no one wants to go with Red to work. All work and no fun aren't you?" She teased to her friend, showing she was joking and smiled at her. Casey caught a set of keys that Red gently threw to her as well.

Keys are for the main stuff, pin lock on the front and back doors. Pins same as usual Hun, anyways I have to go. David please look after her. Cas take your pic of bedrooms, and no parties. Red said, before picking up her bag and catching a bus into town.

Casey smiled and nodded at her friend, before turning back to David. "Wow she must like you, has she slapped you yet?" Cas asked jokingly. Red was picky with who she let in, and obviously he was in if she was speaking to him like a normal person.

David let out a low chuckle but did not say anything about it. He was sure she could have fun, cause if She could attract his brother.. she could for sure have fun. He however shrugged "I am sure Xavier needs me back as soon as possible. Yet I think I could look after her for an hour or so" He shrugged again.

David nodded "Plus she knows it would hurt her more than me. I have a very..sturdy complexion." He then began to lead her through the parking lot.

Casey smiled and laughed, and followed David. "I think she meant about driving carefully, rather then actually staying with me. She's been in a few car crashes in her time so knows she is supposed to be careful. Red also was with a friend when they were in a car crash, the other girl died and Red felt guilty about it for a long time. " Casey explained, laughing and walking.

"Oh so she has slapped you? Was it on a dare or did you upset her? Anyways what year are you in? How old are you?" Casey asked him, smiling and looking around her.

David let out another of his low chuckles "I can assure you, I have a lot of experience when it comes to driving. I have never gotten into a accident once. I wouldn't dare put my baby through that" He then pointed at his baby, and old red with black striped 2010 Chevy Camero which he had kept running for most of his life. The only thing that was from the original was the body, everything else was top of the line. 0-60 in 1 second.

David shook his head "nah, it was a warning i gave her so she wouldn't do it." He was then bombarded with questions, which one he could answer truthfully and one he could not "Grade 12, and I'm 17." He then opened the passenger door to let her in.

Casey smiled and looked at the car and lit up. She had a passion for cars, no where near as much as Red but she still had one. "Nice, well looked after. " She commented, nodding at his age and year.

"I'm nineteen, finished school at seventeen. Anyways..Don't think warning Than..I mean Red against slapping someone will stop her. I've seen her punch a weird guy with really weird eyes, and I don't mean you know albino weird I mean blood red weird.

He was creepy, and Red and I were out one night and he tried hitting on us I guess. Next thing I know is he went to swing at her and she knocked him in the jaw, hard too and broke it. Broke a few knuckles herself but she didn't care. Red's like that. Pretty damn invincible, or so she likes to think. " Casey said laughing like it was nothing. "If you ever come over you should ask her about Tom's Diner. Oh that's a good story. Anyway, how many in your family?"

David shrugged "I had some time to kill" Like 100 years of it, but he was not about to admit that. He used to pay to have other people work on it, but now the car was so old no one knew how to fix it, so he learned how to himself.

David froze when she mentioned blood red eyes. "Where. When?"he asked, now serious and forceful with his words. His calm demeanor abandoned. Had the Volturi finally come to wipe out his family? Was Karina with them?

he then heard the rest of her story and laughed. It couldn't be a vampire. Humans couldn't even hurt one, let alone break his jaw "Oh, probably some Gothic dude into red eye contacts" He then got into the driver seat and in seconds they were zooming down the road at 90 miles an hour.

When asked how many in his family, he took a moment to respond. He said "5 including myself. one of my sisters are away on vacation at the moment. Had a nervous break down and needed to leave" It was basically the truth afterall.

Casey shrugged when asked, "Italy, I mean it looked like she broke his jaw with how hard she hit him. It really should of, but it was weird really. He didn't seem to flinch or anything, actually he looked a lot like you. Very pale and beautiful.....I mean..umm." She said, getting flustered.

Casey smiled and moved on, "I come from a small family, in Cal. Whats your favourite car?" She asked, her bubbly and loving personality coming through. "Red and I always argue between a 67' chevy impala and a 69' charger. She can fix up all those super old cars, just a hobby she calls it.

Red's been teaching me too, it just doesn't seem as easy for me as it is for her. Anyways, whats your favourite subject? Are you like Red and have an eye mutation? If you don't mind me asking that is. "

"So it was in Italy.. and he let you get away? Must have been in Voltura. You were lucky. Anywhere else and he would have killed you" He skipped over the beautiful comment, as that didn't really matter. He knew he was beautiful. He was made that way to lure his next meal. Yet he had been afraid the Volturi had come for the rest of his family, so that took priority.

When she asked what his favorite car was, he patted the steering wheel "this baby right here, 2010 Camero" They had now sped up to 100 miles an hour as they reached the edge of forks.

When she asked what his favorite subject was, he shrugged "Writers craft is pretty interesting. All the other stuff is a little too easy. As for the eye mutation. No, I just wear colored contacts."

Casey smiled and nodded " Yep exactly... Wait how de you know?" She asked, smiling at him. " I wouldn't call it get away, Red is very persuasive when she wants to be. Started babbling away in some language or another at him, obviously pissed off . Then he simply backed off and disappeared. Red said something later on about it, like her kind and his didn't get on it something. Not really sure to be honest, my guess it is because she owns a major company in America and refuses to join with Italy. You do know her parents are dead right ?" Cad said, speaking eloquently even though a lot.



She smiled and laughed at his statement of contacts, " Red wears them for the opposite reason. She has these beautiful bright blue, and I mean unearthly bright blue eyes that make her look amazing. But she covers them with the grey contacts. Hmmm I don't know what else to ask, do you and Red get on well? What are you interested in?"

David shrugged as she asked how he knew about the Voltura thing "I know some people who know some people." Sometimes he really hated living the life of lies, yet it was necessary for them to live alongside the humans. He know saw why they kept their distance.. it was tiring to constantly come up with good lies for things. Which was saying something him being a vampire and all. He then gave a nod, knowing she lived basically alone.

David then gave another nod "We get on okay. As for what I am interested in. Music and writing mostly. It changes a lot depending on what life is like for me. When its tense I lean towards music.. when its calm writing." he almost admitted he wrote an old Horror book named the survival, before he remembered he published it 70 years ago, and under his human name, David Shuter.

Casey smiled and nodded at his answer, "That tends to happen, anyways music and writing huh? That's cool, I like reading. Especially horror, and old horror. " She said to him, smiling as they kept driving.

"It really is a wonderful place around here, lots of forgotten beauty. The forest, the winding roads. Its peaceful out here, no wonder Red likes it to hide from. Might ask her if I can stay a bit longer, since I'm on Vacation from work. Maybe you could show me around sometime?" Cas asked, giving him a dazzling smile.

David smiled slightly, seeing an open to bring his book to the present. "Well, I read this book a while back, A Zombie horror, written almost 80 years ago by some guy named David Shuter. I have a couple copies if you want one"

When she asked if he could show her around sometime, he was torn. He shouldn't do it, that was obvious. So he said "I am not the safest man to be alone with. You would be much safer and happier if you got Thana to do it..." He stated softly

Casey smiled at his mention, " Oh you mean The Survival? I've read that! It's a favourite of mine." Casey said to him, " I've got one copy , but it's only digital ."


When he said she probably wasn't going to be able to shown around by him she shrugged and smiled. " That's okay, I understand ." She mused , shrugging it off. It was nothing really just a gesture .

David was surprised someone read his book so many years later. "So you read some old books.. interesting. I have a hard back if you want one. Did you read any other books by him. "The Beast Within" perhaps?" He wondered how many of his books she had actually read.

He said nothing else about being dangerous as there was nothing else TO say. He then pulled into Thana's driveway, rolling to a stop at the end of it.

Casey bit her lip thoughtfully , " No I can't say I have, but I've read Darkness Begins and Lovers Lust." She answered , smiling and looked at the house they pulled up too.

" Well damn, hey did you want to come in ? Wait no you said you had to go... I Enjoyed the ride David, you can come in if you want . I know Red won't mind , surprised you know her actual name though ." She said, giving him another dazzling smile . " I think I would like the Hardback copy, if only to burrow it. It's too precious to keep."

(These are basically all books I am writing at the moment XD)

David nodded "Those were okay." He said. It had been a long time since he had read them anyways. He then said "I have the other book as well if you want to read it. Its not horror, more fantasy about shape-shifter teenagers. Still a good read though" He shrugged

David sighed and shook his head. It had been too long since he had hunted, and he was not about to enter this house alone with this girl. "It wouldn't be...good.. if I were to go in with you. In Fact It would be good if we were not to become friends. I'll give the book to Thana to give to you next week." he said nothing more and just waited for her to get out of his car.. it was starting to fill with the scent of human and he was thirsty.

Casey smiled, "I would love that. " she agreed , and hopped out of the car. "Your weird you know that? But in a good way, most men would jump at the chance to come in....I'm kinda glad you said no, it shows theres still some gentlemen left in the world . Thank you for the ride David." Casey said to him, laughing as he said they shouldn't be friends.

"Please, if Thana thinks your okay so do I. I mean if you don't want to be friends.....Well okay..Anyways thanks for the lift. " She told him, grabbing her handbag and walking up the small steps to Thana's house. She put in the pin code and got in the house, but turned and waved before going inside the house and disappearing inside.

(Little midnight greeting )

David nodded "I will give her a copy of that as well, I have too many anyways..." he said, glad she was finally out of the car, as by now his throat was burning. he listened to her and sighed "I didn't do it to be a gentleman. Xavier would kill me.. not to mention Amber and Artemis."

David was gone before she had turned back and waved. He needed to get out of there before he killed her, his eyes were Black by now. He however was planning on seeing what Thana's problem was... She knew what David and his family were by now, and to put Casey in a car alone with him was a stupid idea.
